Meet Cheryl Ucci: : The Heartbeat Behind The Stork's Nest Child Academy
Business Executive
At The Stork's Nest Child Academy, where young minds blossom in a nurturing and secure environment, the strength of our organization lies not just in our state-of-the-art facilities or comprehensive curriculum, but in the dedicated individuals who drive our mission forward. Among them stands Cheryl Ucci, our esteemed Business Executive, whose deep-rooted commitment to early childhood education spans decades. With a career intertwined with the academy's growth, Cheryl embodies the family-oriented values that have made The Stork's Nest a trusted name in Rhode Island for generations of families.
Our Legacy of Excellence at The Stork's Nest Child Academy
The Stork's Nest Child Academy, founded in 1992 by Ms. Barbara Izzo, began as a vision to provide high-quality childcare and early education in a safe, stimulating setting. Starting with the original location in East Greenwich, the academy quickly expanded to meet the needs of Rhode Island families, opening additional centers in Warwick and Smithfield. Today, with over 35 years of collective experience, our 4-star BrightStars-accredited programs serve infants through kindergartners, offering tailored curricula that foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. From nurturing infant minds for our tiniest learners to robust Pre-K and Kindergarten Prep programs, we partner with parents to lay the foundation for lifelong success — all in modern facilities equipped with secure entrances, comprehensive camera monitoring, and engaging indoor and outdoor play areas.
Cheryl's Enduring Journey With The Stork's Nest
Cheryl Ucci's journey with The Stork's Nest Child Academy is as enduring as the academy itself. Joining the team in 1999, Cheryl has been an integral part of our story for over a quarter-century. As the daughter of founder and owner Ms. Barbara Izzo, Cheryl grew up immersed in the world of early childhood care, witnessing firsthand the profound impact a supportive environment can have on young children and their families. This familial connection infuses her work with a personal passion, ensuring that every decision prioritizes the well-being of our staff, children, and parents.
Leadership and Hands-On Experience
Cheryl's professional path within the academy reflects her versatility and hands-on dedication. For several years, she served as the director of our older Smithfield location that was designed to accommodate growing demand in northern Rhode Island. In that role, Cheryl oversaw daily operations, nurtured relationships with families, and led a team committed to delivering exceptional care. Her leadership helped establish Smithfield as a cornerstone of our network of families.
Transitioning to her current position in account management at our Corporate Office — where she has excelled for 13 years — Cheryl now manages the financial and administrative backbone of all our locations. Yet, her role extends far beyond numbers and logistics. Cheryl describes herself as "the team support system," and that's precisely what she is: a reliable pillar who works closely and hands-on with our children's staff across Warwick and East Greenwich. Whether troubleshooting challenges, implementing updates to enhance operations, or collaborating with directors and educators, Cheryl ensures smooth functioning so that our teachers can focus on what they do best — inspiring and educating the next generation.
Expertise and Commitment to Quality
With more than 20 years of hands-on experience complemented by ongoing continuing education, Cheryl's expertise in business management is unparalleled in the childcare sector. She brings a strategic yet compassionate approach to her work, balancing fiscal responsibility with the human elements that define early education. In an industry where stability and trust are paramount, Cheryl's longevity speaks volumes: few professionals can claim nearly three decades with the same organization, evolving alongside it while upholding its core values.
What truly sets Cheryl apart is her unwavering commitment to quality service. As she strives daily to support our staff, children, and families, Cheryl bridges the gap between administration and classroom, fostering a cohesive environment where everyone thrives. Parents often remark on the seamless experience at The Stork's Nest — from enrollment and billing to daily interactions — thanks in large part to Cheryl's behind-the-scenes efforts. Her role ensures that our multi-lingual staff, low child-to-teacher ratios, and enriching programs run efficiently, allowing us to maintain our reputation for excellence.
A Lasting Legacy and Invitation to Families
In a field driven by heart as much as expertise, Cheryl Ucci represents the enduring legacy of The Stork's Nest Child Academy. Her story is one of family, dedication, and growth — mirroring the journeys of the countless children who pass through our doors. As we continue to expand our impact across Rhode Island, accepting state assistance, offering sibling discounts, and providing flexible care options, Cheryl remains at the helm of our operational success.
